iran suffered technical issues in blocking youtube
Iran has blocked access to youtube after the release of film based on extremism against their religion.Google’s mail service was also blocked last week unintentionally.
One of the ministers in the country revealed
Google’s email service was blocked “involuntarily” as part of efforts to clamp down on YouTube, which is likely to be hit by more censorship very soon.
Mohammad Reza Miri, who is part of the Internet censorship team within the telecommunications ministry committee was also come forward with the same excuse
Iran is lacking the necessary technical ability to knock-out YouTube without affecting Gmail.Unfortunately, we do not yet have enough technical know-how to differentiate between these two services. We wanted to block YouTube and Gmail was also blocked, which was involuntary
Due to the lack fo expertise accessing the restricted sites through HTTPS protocol was possible.Miri accepted the fact and said
We absolutely do not want YouTube to be accessible. That is why the telecommunications ministry is seeking a solution to fix the problem to block YouTube under the HTTPS protocol while leaving Gmail accessible. That will soon happen
If you look at the above picture which we get from the link http://www.blockediniran.com/ ,it is showing that the problem is solved and now youtube is blocked while google mail service is accessible which is contrary to what miri is telling that yotube is unblocked as authorities are unable to restrict without impacting upon Gmail.
Some news sources also says that you tube and Google were blocked separately beacause of release of film based on extremism against their religion as searching of this content was not blocked by Google, which made Iranian government to ban Google too. But now because of huge pressure the Iranian government is forced to unblock the google services in IRAN.This issue is quite tangled if you ask my point of view so any local one from iran is welcomed if he want to share any information related this issue.
