NEWCASTLE UNITED VS MANCHESTER UNITED: MATCH PREVIEW:
Manchester United will face Newcastle United at Sports Direct Arena this Sunday in Barclays Premier League.
Newcastle United :
Newcastle United didn’t start their season like they did last year, they have won only 2 matches so far this season against Norwich and Tottenham , drew three and lost away to Chelsea, currently standing at 10th spot in Premier League. They have picked 7 points from maximum 9 at Sports Direct Arena so far this season, Newcastle fans will be hopeful to get something from this match because of their good home form. Newcastle’s main concern is their defense so far, Newcastle have conceded 8 goals so far this season in 6 matches with more than 1 goal per match ratio and have managed to keep only 1 clean sheet. In attack, they are heavily reliant on Demba Ba, as 6 of their 8 goals are scored by Demba Ba this season.
The main reason for Newcastle United’s defensive problems is their injury crisis in defense. Good news for Newcastle fans is that Danny Simpson is back from Hamstring injury and started in their midweek’s Europa League clash against Bordeaux. Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor are still out due to Hamstring and Calf injury respectively. Ryan Taylor is also out due to Knee injury. James Perch and Mike Williamson are likely to start as center backs. Harper will resume his services after being rested in midweek; Tim Krul is still not fit because of Arm injury and is expected to be back after the International break, no injury concern in midfield and attack area.
Manchester United :
Manchester United suffered a defeat at Old Trafford against Tottenham last week, 2 defeats in 6 matches so far this season is not a start what Manchester United fans were expecting, but Manchester United is known for comebacks and fans will be expecting a good comeback against Newcastle, but this is not a fixture which fans wants after a defeat at home, as Manchester United was defeated 3-0 in this fixture last season. Manchester United have scored 14 goals so far this season and a return of Wayne Rooney will bolster this attack, but their concern is their defense, as they have conceded 9 times this season with only 1 clean sheet.
Manchester United fans saw their long awaited partnership of Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie starting in midweek’s Champions League clash against Cluj, and they will be much happy after watching Van Persie scoring 2 goals and both created by Wayne Rooney, and Sir Alex Ferguson will be keen to start them together again after watching them play together against Tottenham in the 2nd half and against Cluj. Antonio Valencia has recovered from Ankle injury but still not fit to play, but he could feature in the bench. Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes have recovered from their illness and are available to play; Johnny Evans is also fit to play against Newcastle. Chris Smalling is back in training but not fit to feature in the match. Phil Jones, Ashley Young are still out due to Knee injury, Nemanja Vidic is a long term absentee.
