TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR VS CHELSEA: MATCH PREVIEW
Andres Villas Boas is set to face his former club in the early kick off of Barclays Premier League this Saturday.
Despite not starting the season well, Tottenham have now regained their form and have won all of their last 4 games, including a victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Tottenham failed to win any of their starting 3 fixtures but they have picked maximum points since then and are looking in pretty good form. Tottenham have always given trouble to Chelsea at White Hart Lane and haven’t lost to Chelsea at White Hart Lane since August, 2005. Tottenham have scored 13 goals in 7 games which is not a problem for them, the only problem for Tottenham is their defense, Tottenham managed to keep their first clean sheet in last match against Aston Villa and have conceded 8 goals so far this season.
Jan Vertonghen will retain his position as Left Back, as Assou-Ekotto is still out due to knee injury. Younes Kaboul is also not fit to play due to knee injury and Steven Caulker will resume his services as Centre Back along with William Gallas. Midfielder Scott Parker is still out due Achilles injury and Sandro and Dembele will start as Central Midfielders. Bale and Lennon will continue their services on wings. After a long wait, Tottenham’s fans finally saw their new goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in action, and Lloris managed to keep a clean sheet on his 1st start, AVB is likely to keep faith in Lloris and give him start against Chelsea. Defoe is likely to start as striker and Dempsey right behind him.
Chelsea has the dream start with 19 points from possible 21 so far this season, and is yet to be defeated. The only points dropped were against QPR at Loftus Road. Chelsea doesn’t have a very good record at White Hart Lane and didn’t enjoy victory over hosts from last 7 years.
John Terry’s 4 games suspension starts from game against Tottenham and he will not be available for the fixture, Gary Cahill is likely to start as a CB along with David Luiz with Ivanovic and Ashley Cole on fullback positions. Daniel Sturridge is still out because of Hamstring injury. No other injury concern for Chelsea, and Roberto Di Matteo have full strength to pick from in midfield.
